Visioning as a Leader

As a leader visioning is a really difficult process because what you’re doing is actually prophetically imagining a future that doesn’t exist. You can make that future as amazing or as constrained as what you think your own limitation is. So I think part of the visioning process is actually having a desirable vision and then you have to communicate it in a way that is almost poetic, that’s so lovely and your vision is so beautiful that people long to be there.

There’s an old quote that I’m going to use to wrap up that basically says that you can get people to pick up the wood, assemble the wood, and build a boat or you can help people long for the sea, not just build the boat. So what you’re supposed to do when you cast is vision is get people to long for the sea.
