The Importance of Inquiry & Feedback

Best advice I could give a leader is inquire. Ask questions. It is so natural and so tempting as a leader to only give talks, to only communicate. We’re so content on conveying our vision, getting that out there and making sure people understand it, that it’s very natural and very easy to fail to stop and inquire and to find out what’s on people’s minds. What are they understanding? What are they up against? What are they hoping to do? Do they understand your message in the way you hope they do?

Very often the answer will be “not quite” and only by stopping, inquiring, and asking real, genuine, probing questions can you get the information you really need to continue to sculpt your message, to get it out there, and make it as compelling as possible.
